Recover from the Holidays Fat Ass 50Km Trail Run Las Vegas/Red Rock Version 31.1 Miles Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, near Las Vegas, NV 8 a.m. Saturday January 6, 2007 Location: The start and finish of the Run are at the paved, free parking area just outside of and to the left of the toll booths, at the entrance to the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. This is about 10 miles west of Las Vegas on State Route 159 (Charleston Boulevard), on the right. Course overview: Out and back on hilly trails with a double loop at the turnaround. No aid ( other than drop bag service,water,and snacks at the Willow Springs Checkpoint ),runners will pass this checkpoint at miles 9.05, 15.55, and 22.05. This is the 12th annual running of this fun run. No fee, no trail markings, no awards and no wimps. Results will be sent to Ultrarunning magazine. This run traverses a National Conservation Area. The scenery is very picturesque, with beautiful views of deserts, mountains, towering colorful sandstone cliffs, and the Las Vegas valley. This will be a low-key, non-competitive, non-organized, non-event. It is just a few of us using the trails as individuals for a FUN RUN! No aid (other than drop-bag service, water, and snacks, at the Willow Springs Checkpoint), no fee, no trail markings, no awards, and no wimps.
