Dear Rio Del Lago Participants: Thank you for entering the 9th Rio Del Lago 100 Miler. We will have a training run on Saturday, September 13th, two weeks before the race. The run will be from Mt. Lion Knoll (mile 83.63), back to the finish line at Cavitt School. This is the section that you may be running at night. We will meet at Cavitt School at 6:00 am and shuttle to the Lake Natoma Inn adjacent to Mt. Lion Knoll. We'll car pool with some runners driving their cars to the start, and upon completion of the run, those runners who leave their cars at Cavitt School will drive those runners who drove to Lake Natoma Inn, back to get their cars. We cannot mark the trail, so we will have group leaders who know the course to lead groups of runners. This is not to see how fast you can run this section, but to familiarize you with the route. We will have minimal aid, but you should carry at least two bottles. There is no charge for this run. If you wish to participate you MUST call Norm at 916-859-0821. Pacers are welcome. The race is conducted along the American River equestrian trails in both Placer and Sacramento Counties. It will begin at the Cavitt School in Granite Bay, California.

100 Miles

1. A 50-mile road or track run in under twelve(12) hours. Add 3 hours for a 100K race.
2. A 50-mile trail run in under thirteen(13) hours. Add 3 hours for a 100K race.
3. Any 100-mile trail or road race.

Out & back for 67 miles(running East) along the American River Equstrian Trails, return to the school, then run out back for 33 miles (running West), before returning to the finish line at the school.
Fifty three miles will be run on the Sierra Nevada Run course.

Elevation change - 18,000 feet (est.) - 98% well groomed trails and dirt roads

28 (Well Stocked). Gatorade will be the electrolyte drink.

Easy Driving access to most aid stations.

Distinctive awards to all finishers. Age group awards- 3 deep in 10 year categories, based on the number of entries in each age group.

If you are attempting to earn a 5 year or 10 year buckle at the Sierra Nevada Endurance Run, the Rio Del Lago 100 Miler can be used towards that goal as 53.2 miles are on the same course.
