PR* 50K 2000 Results

17 Runners Brave The Elements At The Inaugural PR* 50K

North Adams, MA    Seventeen hearty runners ignored deep snow, slashing
winds, and temperatures in the low twenties to participate in  the New
Years' eve, inaugural PR* 50K (31 miles or less) running race.

Two runners completed the entire 31 miles: Bob Dion of Readsboro, VT in
4:53 and Ed Lynch of Lee, MA in 5:00. Top female competitor was Darlene
McCarthy of North Adams who completed 22 miles in 4:19. 

Other runners and their distances were: Jim Preite of North Adams, MA and
Dennis Brown of Lee, MA, 25.5 miles, Ken Swiatek of Williamstown, MA, 20
miles, Jan Rancatti of Readsboro, VT, 16.5 miles, Fred Ross III of
Vernon, VT, 14.5 miles, Jack Quinn of Sandgate, VT, 9 miles, Mike
Therrien and Brian McCarthy of North Adams, MA, 8 miles, and Annette
Guerino, Claudine Preite, Sheila Dassatti, and Perry Burdick of North
Adams, MA, and Paul Hartwig and Fran Mach of Adams, MA , 5.5 miles.

The North Adams DPW and the Mass Highway Department did yeoman's work in
keeping the roads in excellent condition throughout the race. Race
organizers also wish to thank the staff at the State Street "T" in North
Adams for their generosity in hosting the race.
